Somatic Body Learning
This 500 hour Somatic Training will lead you through the body systems organized through the developmental movement stages in two years. We will deeply study and explore the bones, muscles and tissues that strongly pertain to a specific Developmental Stage, and alternate with units that focus on a Body System, delving into the specific anatomy and the possibilities of that unique system. This will allow for integration as the information will layer and segments will build. MORE INFO HERE
The first year will focus on the developmental movement stages that humans go through once they are born (Land Patterns of Development). The second year will focus on the developmental movement stages that humans go through in the womb (Ocean Patterns of Development). Most of the material will be introduced in stages: The spine will be taught in the first year in the Spinal unit, and then touched upon in the Muscle unit, and will return in year two with a focus on ligamentous tensegrity and vocalization.
Somatic Body will take place in 9 sessions that are 4 days and four Intensives of 9 days in length throughout 2 years. CLICK HERE for dates.
Immerse yourself in a deep holistic learning environment. Learn how to meet others with more joy, respect, and space for development. Learning is integrated through dance, art, meditation, and vocal and artistic expression, and supported through mentorship and group engagement.
You will learn to:
- encourage embodied presence in yourself and others
- observe and assess clients and students
- repattern movement for greater ease and alignment
- apply Somatic Body in therapy, pedagogy or art
- facilitate emotional relational healing
- source from cell tissue to nature to hive mind
Students will be required to meet between units for Labs with fellow students and will research material through teaching, studying, filming, creating dance, having conversations with other knowledge holders and will bring this back to the group for the morning warm-ups and other opportunities to engage in the learning.
The cohort model brings out the possibility to co-create, witness and support each other, engage in dialogue in the field of somatics, write, teach, and engage in honest feedback. Personal patterns, emotional stress and relationship issues can be approached through the Somatic Body Practices, so there are opportunities to apply the material in interactive processes, using skills of witnessing, embodied presence, listening, moving, processing and integrating - all these are tools of the Somatic Body Training.
